Welcome to my blog! A reflection on 2020 as a brow artist, business owner, wife, and mom.

Uncategorized Jan 01, 2021

As I type this out, it is December 29th and I am reflecting on the year. What a year this has been! I am sure no one could have ever imagined we would be experiencing a pandemic like we currently are. I feel extremely fortunate to state that this year has been pretty incredible for me. Sure, I can look at all the negative ways it has impacted my life, but I choose to look at all the growth, I, my business, and my family have achieved this year. The growth I truly did not know I needed.

One of my proudest accomplishments this year is that we expanded our business! My husband and I own a tattoo studio together in Victorville, California, and despite the pandemic and multiple mandated closures,  we hired new artists and managed to keep all our current ones. We finally created a website and had our first marketing video made. Some of the team even started selling merchandise which was super cool! We also spruced up some of the interior decors and purchased additional square footage to build..... THE BEAUTY LAIR!

The Beauty Lair is a punk rock Barbie dream. The perfect little studio for me and a few other artists to listen to fun women empowering music and vibe while we help others feel beautiful. Boss bitches making money, growing, and having fun. The Beauty Lair is in the newborn stage and I cannot wait to see what it grows to be. Currently, it is just me and my apprentice but I will be hiring very soon! I cannot wait to employ others and encourage them live their best lives!

I also developed a legit training program, Basic to Boss: Brows. A complete training program that not only teaches the technique of microblading and shading for the eyebrows but also includes business and marketing advice and guidance. During the quarantine period of the pandemic, I got to work on putting all of my knowledge, heart, and soul into an 8 week online training course. I had my first two students and am so proud of what I created! I honestly wish there was a program like this for me when I first got started. Most training programs are a 2-3 day thing and that is it. I speak from experience that you leave these 2 days courses feeling like WTF.I love the way I have structured my program. It is designed to truly help my students be successful and know what to do with their business after learning the skill of cosmetic tattooing for the eyebrows.

I hired my first apprentice in January this year and learned so much from it, to be honest, I was burned but lesson learned and it will not happen again. Who am I kidding..it probably will but not on that level and it will definitely be a lot harder to do now that I have learned.  I can say now that I am grateful things panned out the way they did because I have a much clearer vision of who I want to surround myself with. I now have my second apprentice and she is going to do amazing things and I cannot wait to help her make her wildest dreams come true!

Most importantly, I found and accepted balance in my work and life. Taking the time off made me realize how much I wanted to be more present for my family and myself. I restructured the hours I take on clients and committed to a consistent morning routine and healthy lifestyle including my diet and fitness. This was honestly extremely hard for me. I had conditioned myself to think that hustling 24/7 is the way of life. Don't get me wrong, I still hustle and identify as a boss ass bitch but I also realize that my life and my family are also important, actually the most important thing to me.

Structuriing my life has been incredible helpful for how I operate my day to day. I now wake up a little earlier to have some me time and plan my day for success. Firstly, I sit and drink my coffee and write in my journal. It so important to count your blessings so I take some time for gratitude and write down three things I am grateful for. I then think about my day and the 3 most important things I want and need to accomplish. I have been loving the simplicity of three goals versus my massive to-do list that lords know I'm not going to get anywhere close to finishing. While I do my hair and makeup I try and listen to something that will benefit me or be relatable to something that's heavy on my mind, usually a podcast or training video in one of many programs I'm apart of. I think its so important to master your mornings and I truly feel its one of my secrets to success in my life.

If you read this far, thank you so very much. Writing is NOT my specialty but I want to be better! Cheers to 2021! I can't wait to be more vulnerable and continue to grow in my business and relationships!
